STARKVILLE, MISS. (WCBI) — A local Starkville student has been selected to represent her high school’s choir on a national level.

Elizabeth Jones will soon be taking her singing talents to Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Starkville high school junior auditioned and was selected to become a member of the National Honor Choir.

3,000 students auditioned for the choir and only 300 high schoolers were chosen.

Jones said her hard work and dedication has paid off.

“I worked for several weeks learning the piece that we were to audition with and I worked a lot in this class with Mrs. Wheats and with the other students that were auditioning to learn the piece and get it to a point where we would be happy to send it in,” said Elizabeth Jones.

In February, Jones will leave for the choir competition.
