STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) Starkville city leaders choose one school board member, but the appointment came with plenty of controversy, public outcry, and division within the board.

Juliette Weaver-Reese is the newest member of the Starkville School Board. She will take the place of long time member and current board president, Eddie Myles.

The issue began when Myles failed to turn in his paper work for reappointment by the deadline.

Mayor Parker Wiseman was willing to overlook this, and hear from both Myles and Reese. With two motions, two votes, and plenty of public comment, Reese was named to serve the board.

Myles has played a large role in the current consolidation of Starkville and Oktibbeha County schools.

Reese will pick up where he left off, on March 3rd.
