Starkville Man Arrested While Allegedly Attempting to Break Into School

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starkville police arrest a man they say they caught breaking into an elementary school.

Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a burglary alarm at Ward Stewart Elementary.

While assessing the scene, the officer reportedly heard a loud noise.

The officer reported 21-year-old Terry Lee Coggins Jr., who lives in a nearby neighborhood, was breaking the glass out of the school’s front door.

Coggins didn’t run, but then charged the officer. He was tased and taken into custody.

Coggins has been charged with attempted burglary and disorderly conduct.

Bond has not been set.
