Starkville Police Botch Burglary Attempt

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) On September 21, 2014 at approximately 1:17am, Starkville Police responded to Henderson Elementary School located at 200 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Starkville, MS for a burglary alarm.

When an Officer reached the area of Ward Stewart/Henderson School he heard a loud noise in the direction of the school campus. Upon arrival the Officer witnessed a man breaking the glass of the main entrance door to Ward Stewart School. The person breaking the door ran from the Officer when he was ordered to stop.

When the subject could not escape, he ran towards the Officer. The Officer then had to tase him in order to gain control.
He was identified as 21 year old Terry Lee Coggins, Jr. residing at 113 Henderson St. in Starkville, MS. Coggins was arrested with no major injuries and charged with Attempted Burglary and Disorderly Conduct. He was transported the Oktibbeha County Jail where his bond will be set in Municipal Court tonight at 6:00pm.
