STARKVILE, Miss. (WCBI) -Representatives from seven school districts converged on Starkville this evening to talk consolidation.

The commission decided they will keep all of their students within county lines.

The Consolidation commission of Starkville met with Superintendents and representatives of Choctaw, Clay, West Point, Louisville, Lowndes, Noxubee, and Webster County districts…

The consolidation of Starkville and Oktibbeha Schools sparked conversations about surrounding districts, and their ability to receive new students.

They also discussed building capacity, transportation and funding.

Only Lowndes County and the Louisville Municipal School District are capable of accepting new students, but Commissioners decided that the commute was too far for Oktibbeha County students.

The commission will meet again in two weeks to discuss multiple plans that will help keep the students in the county.
