TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) Some of the most visible scars from April 28th are the mangled and missing trees in the path of the storms. Unlike buildings which can be rebuilt and repaired in the span of months, trees take decades to replace.

Tuesday, Tupelo started the process of doing that in one of its most popular parks. Public works crews planted trees at Ballard Park on the west side of town. Project Director David Knight says getting that process started will help in the long term recovery.

The Pepsi Corporation donated some of the trees which will be planted across the city.
