Sunday’s Storm Threat

Happy Sunday to you. An active weather day is setting up across the viewing area today. As of this AM post, the severe threat today has been updated to only include viewers along and south of HWY 82.

An area of showers & storms has already moved into the Golden Triangle this morning. Although loud, the severe potential has been restricted due to a few ingredients lacking in the atmosphere. The general instability will increase as the day progresses today and stronger storms will be able to develop within this line as a result.

The amount of moisture with this system is impressive. Heavy rainfall will be our greatest threat today. Rainfall amounts as high as 4 inches look possible and flash flooding will be a concern.

Stronger storms will develop during the afternoon and continue into the late evening. Gusty winds and small hail look to be our greatest threats especially along and south of HWY 82. At this time we cannot exclude the threat of an isolated tornado, but the chance of that happening is extremely low.
