Heat Advisory through 8pm for all the counties highlighted in orange, as seen on the image to the right. This includes Tupelo, Iuka, Oxford, Abderdeen and Corinth. Right now it already feels like 100+ in Tupelo That will be the case all afternoon for the advised counties. Be sure to stay hydrated when working outside and take frequent breaks.
Today: Highs will hit the middle 90s, and the “feels like” temperature will be between 100-105 degrees. We say this often, but don’t overestimate how long you can work outside during the heat of the day. It’s so important to drink plenty of water and take breaks during this kind of heat. Don’t forget to be sure your pets have cool, fresh water and a way to get some shade. There is a chance for a few storms tomorrow afternoon that may bring gusty winds. Most of those will stay in Alabama, though.
Friday: Scattered rain and storms will return to the area. Just like Thursday, the severe threat is going to be wind and hail. Coverage of North MS and West AL is only expected to be around 30%.
Weekend: Rain chances continue to hang around 20%-30%. It will be a littler cooler, with highs on Sunday in the upper 80s and lows in the upper 60s.
