Survey Ranks Miss. as Worst State for Educators in Country

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Teachers in Mississippi may love their jobs, but a new study says it’s not the best state for them to work.

Leading personal finance social network Wallet Hub ranked the state 50th in its study of best and worst states for teachers.

Alabama ranked 31st.

The study looked at everything from starting and average pay to per pupil spending and average class sizes.

The state’s best mark came in starting salaries at 25th nationwide.

The worst categories were spending per student and overall growth in teacher salaries.
