COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus police are looking for a 23-year-old suspect in the shooting of another man at a Columbus convenience store Monday night.

Police say they think Damarco Montrell Billups fired as many of four shots from outside the Quick and Easy market on North McCrary, striking 38-year-old Rodell Hairston in the upper chest.

Hairston and his mother had stopped at the market to buy cigarettes.

Hairston’s mother was waiting outside in her car when she saw her son shot. Billips has a prior arrest record and is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police or Crime Stoppers.
