Tallahatchie River Fest Features Rubber Ducks

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — The New Albany Rotary Club and the Union County Historical Society hosted the first Rubber Duck Regatta, as part of the Tallahatchie River Fest Weekend.

The newest attraction to the festival is a duck race.

1,000 yellow ducks floated down the river, while many anxious sponsors watched to see if they had the first place duck.

The proceeds of the sponsorships go to the Heritage Museum and Rotary Club.

Organizers say they hope to return the regatta next year.

“We do hope to make it an annual event and this is a new experience for us, so hopefully we’ll improve on it as the years go on but we’re excited about it and I think other people are too,” said New Albany Rotary Club President, Jack Dalton.

Cash prizes were given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
