Taxi Ordinance Revised After Cab Drivers Complain

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — The Oxford City Council is holding a public hearing Aug. 5 on revisions made to the city’s taxi ordinance to address complaints by cab drivers.

The city heard comments in June on an initial change to the ordinance.

After taking comments, a local newspaper reports the council took steps this week to revise the revision.

In June, cab drivers opposed changing the rate fee from $10 a person to $10 for the first person and $5 for each additional person going to the same place.

On Tuesday, the council went back to $10 for each person in the cab going to the same location and $2.50 for each additional stop.

The council made other changes to be addressed at the public hearing.
