TCPS Drops Varsity Football Team

FROM PRESS RELEASE

Belden, Mississippi – August 13, 2013 — School officials announced Tuesday that TCPS, due to unforeseen circumstances, does not have the ability to field a Varsity Football team this Fall. “We simply are not comfortable with the potential safety risk resulting from being unable to adequately field a Varsity level team,” said Brian Benscoter, TCPS Headmaster.

TCPS is in the process of notifying the MHSAA and their opponents. The Junior High program will continue as planned with their full schedule as TCPS continues developing the Football Program for the future.

“In a full-fledged effort to sustain our program we prepared all through summer workouts and have practiced up to this very day. I applaud Coach Holiday and his efforts in building this program. We have-complete confidence in his leadership as he continues to grow young men,” said Aubrey Boren, TCPS Athletic Director.

TCPS’ mission statement is to lead students in partnership with Christian families, to know Christ and make Him known through rigorous academics, challenging athletics, stimulating arts, and servanthood activities.
