TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Preparations are underway for a unique fun run and 5 k benefiting several causes.

This Saturday, the first “Color Run” will be held in the Northeast Mississippi area. It takes place at Tupelo Christian Preparatory School and benefits St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Make A Wish Foundation and will also help the school raise money for its baseball program.

There will be a 5 k and a 1.5 mile fun run. It takes place on the TCPS campus and all runners will go through checkpoints where volunteers will toss paint on them.

Organizers say it’s a fun way to raise money for great causes.

“Being the first annual event we are really looking forward to St Jude and Make A Wish we have had two kids that are enrolled here in school who have been involved in St Jude, so our number tags on the front will have who you’re running for so we’re trying to acknowledge kids involved in St Jude who are here as well as Make A Wish, one student here has been qualified for that,” said Cody White, an organizer of the Color Run.

It all begins at 9 a.m Saturday. For information on how you can register, go to www.tcps.net
