Teal Steps Down From Tupelo Post

TUPELO, Miss. — BJ Teal, director of Development Services for the city of Tupelo, announced her retirement on October 23. Ms. Teal was hired in September 2008 as Special Assistant to the Mayor for Planning and Community Development.

In 2009, she was promoted to her current position.

Her effective retirement date is November 18, 2013.

Mayor Jason Shelton said, “I truly appreciate Ms. Teal for her commitment to the City of Tupelo over the past five years. She is an incredibly valuable asset and I am especially grateful for her work on writing the new development code for the City of Tupelo. Her legacy will have a major impact on the future of this city.”

In a letter to the mayor, Ms. Teal said, “My association with the City of Tupelo has been a pleasant one and I do know that I contributed greatly in moving Tupelo forward for the past five years.”
