Teens, Adult Charged in West Point Burglary

WEST POINT, Miss. — Four juveniles and one adult have been arrested for a burglary that occurred on Saturday night. On Sunday morning officers were dispatched to 321 Bugg Street in reference to a break in at Saul Wrecker Service and Auto Repair. Upon arrival officers discovered a person or persons unknown had entered the business and taken several items.

The owner of the business reported that some items of value were taken. Among the items missing was a desktop computer, a pressure washer and a laptop. There were also several hundred dollars’ worth of hand tools taken and a floor jack. A 42” flat screen TV was damaged possible dropped in an attempt to remove it from the premises.

Also taken was a 2004 gray Kia that was at the shop for repairs. After collecting and processing some of the evidence from the scene investigators arrested and charged 26 year old Lorenzo Diashay Dye of Town Creek Apartments. He has been charged with one count of burglary of a commercial building and one count of grand larceny.

Also arrested in connection with this crime were 4 juveniles whose names are not being released because of their age. They are all between the ages of 14 and 15 and all are being charged with grand larceny and burglary. Mr. Dye is being held in the Clay County Jail. Bail is set at $25,000. The juveniles are being processed in the Youth Court System.

According to Chief Tim Brinkley, “We have evidence to confirm that these juvenile were active participants in this crime. We have made this appeal before but we are reiterating that it is extremely important that parents know and can confirm where their children are when the leave home”.
