Teens Charged in Wheeler School Burglary

WHEELER, Miss. — Wednesday, Dec. 12, two juvenile males, ages 15 & 16, were arrested after the staff at Wheeler School discovered the school had been burglarized and vandalized.

One of the pair was a student, the other was a former student. The suspects have been charged as juveniles and released to parents or guardians.

These same two juveniles had been previously charged with grand larceny in connection with the theft of several ATVs that were taken several months ago from an ATV repair shop east of Baldwyn.

The pair broke into the school building at Wheeler and damaged $1,000s worth of property and stole other items, some of which were later recovered.

They also attempted to get into a safe. A witness helped break the case when they gave the description of a vehicle seen leaving the school. One of the investigators remembered the description that was given matched the description of the vehicle used in the ATV thefts.

Deputies and Investigators went to the suspects’ residence and the pair was taken in to custody without incident.

The cases will be heard in Prentiss County Youth Court. The were charged with Burglary and Malicious Mischief.
