Tippah Man Dies in Crash

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. (WCBI)–A man has died after his vehicle caught on fire in Blue Mountain. According to Trooper Ray Hall, 75 year-old James Stagener, Tippah County, and his 67 year-old wife, Annie, were traveling on Highway 15 around eight Monday (9-3) night. When 44 year-old, William B. Rakestraw, of Blue Mountain, collided into the rear of the Stragener’s Chevorlet pick-up. The collision caused both vehicles to catch on fire. The Stagener’s were trapped inside their vehicle and had to be extracted. James died from injuries sustained in the accident while his wife Annie was air-lifted to the MED in Memphis with severe burns. Rakestraw was transported to Baptist Hospital in New Albany sustaining only minor injuries. Annie Stagener is still in critical condition.
