Tishomingo County Boating Accident Kills Two Men

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) – Two men have died in a boating accident on the Tennessee River near the Tennessee-Mississippi state line.

Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin told The Jackson Sun that accident happened early Saturday morning when their bass fishing boat collided with a parked barge.

Martin identified the men as 39-year-old Carey Downs and 40-year-old Jeremy Floyd. Martin says the men were traveling quickly down the Tennessee River near the Mississippi state line.

Martin says that the Hardin County Rescue team recovered the bodies and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife is investigating the accident.
