Top Recruit Treadwell Chooses Ole Miss

Crete, Ill., wide receiver Laquon Treadwell in televised announcement ceremony gave a verbal commitment to Ole Miss today.

Commitments are non-binding. Feb. 6 – National Signing Day – is the first day recruits can sign binding letters of intent with NCAA schools.

Treadwell is ranked the No. 1 wide receiver, the No. 10 player overall, by Rivals.com. ESPN ranks Treadwell as the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 19 player in its ESPN 150.

Scout.com ranks Treadwell as its No. 5 wide receiver and No. 37 player overall.

Joined by his mother at the press conference, Treadwell’s comments were brief. The longest part of his announcement ceremony seemed to be the time it took him to duck below the podium then stand up with a white Ole Miss cap with the “Ole Miss” script log and a red Ole Miss sweatshirt.

“One school developed a great relationship with my mom and myself, and I enjoyed the players and the university. This fall I will be playing football at the University of Ole Miss,” he said.
