Traffic Stops Lead to Drug Arrests

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (Lowndes Narcotics Press Release) — The following arrests were made by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit during the week of March 10 through March 16.

On Monday March 10, 2014 Agents of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Willie Earl Bryant III on Downs Road in Lowndes County. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an undisclosed amount of cocaine and U.S. currency. Willie Earl Bryant III, 34, of Columbus was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of a controlled substance misdemeanor, possession of cocaine, and violation of parole.

On Wednesday March 12, 2014 Agents of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Akem Olajuwon Grassaree on Greentree Drive in Lowndes County. Terrell Jones and Christopher Sherrod were occupants in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an undisclosed amount of cocaine and marijuana as well as almost $7,000 in U.S. currency.

Akem Olajuwon Grassaree, 25, of Macon, Mississippi was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Terry Terrell Jones, 32, of Columbus was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and violation of probation.

Christopher Gevoris Sherrod, 22, of Brooksville Mississippi was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
