Tragedy Again Hits Smithville Family

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two years after her daughter was killed in a tornado, a Smithville woman dies when an SUV crashes into a tree and flips.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says 43-year-old Trina Kay Pace Bishop of Mt. Zion Road in Smithville was killed shortly after 8:30 Sunday night when a 2006 Chevrolet SUV driven southbound on Wren Cemetery Road by friend left the road, hit a tree and flipped.

Bishop was a back seat passenger and was wearing a seat belt.

Bishop’s 16-year-old son was a front seat passenger and was treated and released at North Mississippi Medical Center. The driver was also taken to NMMC.

Bishop’s daughter, 18-year-old Jessica Pace, was killed in the April 27, 2011 tornado that devastated Smithville.
