STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A Mississippi State student is making sure law enforcement have life saving tools at their finger tips.

Kellie Abbott 20 donated trauma kits to the MSU Police Department Wednesday.

She founded Blue Forever after her friend, a Shreveport police officer, bled to death.

Abbott wants to raise enough money to provide officers across the country with Quick Clot Belt Trauma Kits.

“For all the universities in the United States, especially larger ones, to have belt trauma kits, because they are usually first on the scene at a campus. So if anything should happen, it is important for them to have one,” said Abbott.

“If they are away from their unit, where those typical types of material are located, then they may not make it back to their unit before loss of life occurs,” explained MSU Police Chief Vance Rice.

Abbott has raised 60 thousand dollars…that’s enough to provide more than six hundred kits to a nearly two dozen agencies in five states.
