COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –  He made 18 felony arrests, seized nearly a pound of marijuana and led his District by writing more than 28-hundred citations.

For his tireless efforts on the highway, Josh Jarvis has been named Trooper of the Year, for his area, by his peers.

Jarvis has only been on the job for a little more than a year.

He is a second generation trooper.

His father was Troop Commander of the Meridian District.

Thursday (5-2), the Columbus Exchange Club honored Jarvis.

Trooper Jarvis says, “I kind of try to model myself on what I saw my dad be for so long. That’s to use good common sense, remember to do what’s best for the people and do your job at the same time. ”

With all his hard work, there is no telling how man live Trooper Jarvis saved over the last year.
