Monday Shootings Keep Columbus Police Busy

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Two shootings within an hour of each other kept Columbus Police busy Monday night.

The first one happened around 6:50 at 1801 5th Avenue South. Police say 17 year old Myron Jamison shot 21 year old Menderil Cohen and then fled. The shooting stemmed from a weekend argument between the two. Jamison is still at large.

55 minutes later, an argument over kids throwing rocks ended with two people going to jail. 33 year old Timothy Robinson of Columbus and 33 year old Edward Jacobs of Boston, Massachusetts, exchanged words outside a Shady Street home because Robinson claimed Jacobs nephew was throwing rocks at a relatives car. The two got into a fight when a third person, 22 year old Edward Preston pulled out a gun and started firing at Robinson. Jacobs and Preston have both been charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.
