Tupelo Church Offers Free Gas Saturday

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A local church is doing something to help the community Saturday morning.

Tupelo’s Salvation Station International Ministries church will be giving away free gasoline to motorists. It all takes place at Papa V’s on East Main Street.

There is no catch. Motorists will be able to drive up to the pumps, and they will be able to get free gasoline.

The church’s pastor says it’s a way for the church to do something tangible for the area.

“I think it’s the church’s job to bring the church more so out of the four walls, into the community and empower the people, and with the economy being the way it is and high as gas is, I believe it is just a wonderful thing to be able to help people in time of need,” Le’Aundrae Bumpus with Saving Station International Ministries said.

It all starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The free gas has been prepaid with a big donation. It will be available until the supply runs out.
