Tupelo Downtown Trick or Treat Cancelled, Other Indoor Events Continue

FROM THE DAILY JOURNAL

TUPELO – Tonight’s Downtown Tupelo Trunk-or-Treat has been canceled due to inclement weather.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 100 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day.

Kristen Partin, event organizer and older children’s coordinator at First United Methodist Church of Tupelo, said the decision was made not to reschedule this year’s event but hopes to make it bigger next year.

All of the donated candy and baked goods will be put in gift bags and taken to North Mississippi Medical Center, the Salvation Army, Helping Hands, the Regional Rehabilitation Center and fire Station No. 6.

Jeff Snyder, general manager of The Mall at Barnes Crossing, said he expects a big crowd trick-or-treating at the mall because of the weather forecast.

First Baptist Tupelo’s Fall Festival at Robins Field has been moved indoors at the church on Jefferson Street from 5 -8 p.m.

Plantersville will host a trunk-or-treat event indoors at the Plantersville Fire Department.

In Southeast Lee County, Richmond Baptist Church will host a trunk-or-treat event in the church’s gym.
