Tupelo High School Students Complete ‘Plant a Seed’ Program

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A program that helps teach high school students the value of hard work has wrapped up another summer session.

33 Tupelo High School juniors and seniors received certificates for completing the Plant A Seed program.

The program allows teenagers to work 20-25 hours each week in various departments throughout the city.

Participants are paid minimum wage, and they get a sneak peek into what it takes to run city government.

Graduates were honored this afternoon with an awards ceremony and reception at city hall. This is the third year the city has sponsored the program.
