Tupelo Introduces Hammond

Tupelo High School has named Amory coach Trent Hammond as its new head football coach.

Brandon Speck of The Daily Journal first reported the hiring at 1 p.m.

Hammond spent the last three seasons at Amory, where the Panthers went 23-16. Amory lost to eventual champion Class 4A champion Lafayette in the 2011 Class 4A North finals.

Hammond has also served as head coach at Water Valley and Franklin County. He replaces David Bradberry, who went 17-17 and made the 6A playoffs in two of his three seasons.
