Tupelo Police Search For Car Bandits

Tupelo, Miss. (WCBI)– Tupelo Police are reminding locals to lock up their cars and valuables, after recent burglaries around town.

Tupelo Detective Lt. Jerry Davis told Daily Journal Wednesday, “We had seven burglaries in the last 24 hours.”

The burglarers are targeting residents’ cars  mostly at night around the north and south sides of Thomas Street.

A vehicle was stolen because someone left their keys in the car, but this incident led authorities to a description of the suspect. The suspect is described as a black male that was last seen wearing camouflage pants.

The cars reported were usually unlocked or contained visible valuables.The Tupelo Police Department is encouraging residents to be mindful of leaving valuables out in plain sight when leaving their vehicles.
