Tupelo Woman and Unborn Child Die in Midday Crash
TUPELO, Miss. – (WCBI) A Tupelo woman and her unborn child die, and two others are injured after a midday car accident.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green says 21-year old Casey McMillin, who was nine months pregnant, died after a crash on North Eason Boulevard, a half a mile from Highway 78.
Green adds McMillin’s husband and another passenger are being treated at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Tupelo police believe an attempt to pass a larger vehicle, ended with their small pick up spinning out of control into a ditch, and only coming to a stop after colliding into parked cars in a nearby lot.
Passengers from the larger vehicle weren’t hurt.
Green says the absence of seatbelts played a role in the extent of injuries. The crash remains under further investigation.
