TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-Some kids from the Boys and Girls club dined with The Tupelo Mayor and his wife.

Mayor Jack Reed Jr and his wife had lunch with the kids from the Tupelo Reads Program to discuss what they have learned from their summer reading “MY DOG SKIP”

Along with book discussions they enjoyed a free lunch at Chili’s. One student says he looks forward to this lunch every year.

“I think it’s fun coming up in here that you’re eating with the Mayor Reed and Mrs. Reed. That you are around them and we were talking about the book and what he did and what they grew up to be like,” says Rickiea Mcdougal.

The Tupelo Reads is a community-wide reading to get students to read outside of school.
