COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Councilman Marty Turner filed an appeal, on Wednesday, to get him back on the ballot in the Lowndes County District 5 Supervisor race.

The Lowndes County Democratic Executive Committee tossed Turner off the ballot after longtime incumbent Leroy Brooks challenged Turner’s residency at a hearing Tuesday night.

Brooks claimed turner lived at two different homes, one of which was outside District 5.

Turner called witnesses and presented evidence at the meeting.

Lowndes County Circuit Clerk Haley Salazar says her office has filed the notice with the Mississippi Supreme Court.

The court will now appoint a circuit judge to hear the appeal.
