WATER VALLEY, Miss. – Two men wanted for murder in connection with the New Years Eve shooting death of Latonya Carr are in custody.

Spencer Tyrone Morgan, 40, turned himself in to Lafayette County authorities Jan. 24 and is currently being held in the Yalobusha County Jail on $250,000 bond.

James Johnson, Jr., 25, was arrested by U. S. Marshals in Desoto County last week and is also being held in the Yalobusha County Jail under a Mississippi Department of Corrections hold for parole violation.

A third man, Kevin Kuykendall a.k.a. Kevin Kelly, 34, is still being sought, according to Police Chief Mike King.

Carr died at 3:25 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he was flown for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds to the head on New Year’s Eve.

Residents of the 200 block of Fly Street found Latonya Carr Dec. 31 slumped over in his blue and white pickup truck. Residents said they didn’t react to the loud bangs immediately because youngsters had been shooting fireworks just a short time before.

Carr, 33, has a Batesville address, but is believed to reside in Water Valley.

Chief King said anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Kuykendall is urged to contact the Water Valley Police Department at (662) 473-2933.
