COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A downtown Columbus business owner wants the city’s two-hour street parking limit extended to a city-owned parking lot. Steve McLemore, the owner of the Front Door and Back Door restaurants, says the lot on College Street behind his business often is filled with cars of nearby residents who leave their vehicles for days at a time. Those cars make it look like the lot is full. Instead of stopping, potential customers driving by move on to another business instead of stopping. The filled lot also is a problem for older shoppers who must walk longer distances. Council members said they will consider the idea and other possible solutions.
