OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two men narrowly escape serious injury but could find themselves in jail after a scary early morning crash in Oktibbeha County.

Witnesses say two men were speeding eastbound on Stone Boulevard when their 2009 Dodge Challenger missed Oktoc Circle, jumped several curbs and crashed into a metal canopy support pole at State Superette.

The car narrowly missed a large concrete sign but burst into flames when it hit the pole.

A white male and black male fled and got into a white car and left. The store was open and numerous people witnessed the spectacular crash which happened at about 12:30 a.m. today.

The car’s license plate is from the Vicksburg area.

Oktibbeha County investigators say an attorney representing the two men has promised they will turn themselves in this afternoon. It’s unclear if the driver of the car that picked them up will face charges.

Fire officials say if the car had not hit the pole, it likely would have crashed into the crowded business.
