Two Qualify for Sturgis Special Election

STURGIS, Miss. (WCBI) – Two people have qualified to run in a special election to fill a vacant seat on the Sturgis Board of Aldermen. As of Tuesday’s deadline, Mallory Ware and James Eric Johnson, III had completed qualifying papers.

Ware is a volunteer on the town’s beautification committee. Johnson previously served as an alderman from 2005 to 2007, but resigned when he moved out of town.

The two are vying for a the seat left vacant when Quinnia Yates resigned.

Residents will cast ballots in the special election on October 23rd.
