TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A traffic stop turns into a chase, then the arrest of two Tupelo men on drug charges.

On Thursday, Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies tried to stop a car on County Road 300 for numerous traffic violations. The driver fled, and deputies saw the passenger throw something from the car.

Deputies retrieved the object, which contained methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

47-year-old Christopher Clayton and 39-year-old Robert Dickens were arrested and charged with possession of meth.

“Well at this point, we believe they were taking this particular product to a location,” Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said. “By the time the Grand Jury gets here, there may be some more arrests linked into this, but these individuals had been watched by us for quite some time, not only because of their history, but because of recent information that we’d gotten.”

Bond was set at $25,000 for each man.

Both have previous drug related arrests and both are under the supervision of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
