University Of Alabama Tuition Going Up

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) – It’s going to cost more to attend the University of Alabama and its sister campuses in Birmingham and Huntsville.

Trustees approved tuition increases Friday for the main campus in Tuscaloosa plus the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

The tuition increase of nearly 3 percent is the smallest in a string of cost hikes that officials blame in part on reductions in state funding for the system.

Tuition for full-time undergraduate and graduate students at the main campus in Tuscaloosa will jump $125 per semester. Out-of-state tuition will go up $500 a semester.

More than 33,000 students attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. UAB’s enrollment is about 18,000, while about 7,600 students attend Alabama-Huntsville.
