UPDATE: Wednesday Hurricane Creek Drowning Victim

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) – More information on the Hurricane Creek drowning victim from Wednesday has been released.

Brandon Wayne Davis, 16, of Ripley, used a rope to swing out over the creek while swimming with his brother. After swinging into the creek, Davis came up yelling to his brother, then went back under the water and did not resurface.

An emergency call was made around 3 p.m. that dispatched the sheriff’s office, who called the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for further assistance.

The teen’s body was removed from the water around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

No foul play is suspected, but the body has been released to the coroner for further review.
