VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) – The Verona Board of Alderman voted Tuesday to reinstate two Verona officers involved in a fatal shooting in September.

With a vote of 3 to 1, officers JB Long and Aaron Andrew were cleared to return to work. The two men have been on suspension since September 3, despite the fact that a Lee County Grand Jury cleared the officers of any wrong doing in January. The suspension is a result of the fatal shooting case of 31-year-old Henry Montgomery. The officers were trying to stop Henry and Christopher Montgomery for a traffic violation at the time of the shooting.

Ward 3 Alderwoman Jesse Gilmore was the only opposing vote with Ward 4 Alderman Julian Riley abstaining to vote.
