The warming trend continues for the second half of your Veterans Day weekend. Expect a few more clouds on your Veterans Day with afternoon temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Breezy southerly winds between 10 and 25 mph will cause a nuisance to any folks wearing a hat Sunday. Winds may gust as high as 30 MPH in some locations.
Showers and storms will develop Sunday night and Monday as a cold front crosses the area. Heavy rain will be possible and we can’t rule out a few strong storms either. We say this but it does look like most of the stronger storms should stay west of I-55. That is where greatest amount of energy will lie for severe thunderstorm development.
Cooler and drier air will settle back in behind the front for the middle of next week. Temperatures will drop 20 degrees behind the front Monday night. Lows Monday will fall into the lower 30s.
The remainder of the work week looks cool and dry with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s.
