TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s a milestone, 30 years in the making. MUW took over the the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing advanced placement program back in 1983. The program is offered out of Tupelo.

A bachelors degree opens the door for nurses to earn a higher salary, research opportunities and teaching positions.

Dr. Jim Borsig says three decades of success would not have been possible without the involvement of surrounding hospitals and their experienced staff members.

” The “W” Nursing program is the largest in the state and we support North Mississippi Medical Center, and the medical community north of Jackson to the Tennessee state line and it is important to say ‘thank you’ to those folks who work with us and with out students everyday,” says MUW President Dr. Jim Borsig.

The first class, made up of five students, graduated in August of 1984. In 2011, 278 students graduated with their BSN’s.
