COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Six new reserve law enforcement officers from Monroe and Lowndes County graduated tonight.

This is the first class to graduate from the Columbus Police Training Academy since 2006. For six months the graduates met every Tuesday and Thursday for three hour training sessions. One graduate says it has something he has been looking forward to for a long time.

“It feels great. I’m excited to start working in the city of Columbus. It’s always been something I wanted to do and I’m a police officer on base so skills transition well,” says Lamont Marzolf.

Monroe county Sherrif Cecil Cantrell and Aberdeen Mayor Cecil Bale were both present at the graduation.
