COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-Family and friends have their own way of honoring the memory of a loved one after their passing.

For one Columbus Family, IT WAS A STROLL THROUGH A FAMILIAR NEIGHBORHOOD…

“My favorite memory is when I would come and she is eating something she wasn’t suppose to eat the look on her face would be amazing so that was my favorite memory just every time I would have to play mamma she would say things to me that probably I can’t say on camera, but those are my greatest memories and just watching her interact with her grandkids and her children,” says Naomi Green.

Naomi Green reflects back on some of her favorite memories of her Grandmother. Mary Green passed away last week at the age of 89 leaving many family members and friends with heavy hearts and happy memories.

The family chose to honor their matriarch with a short walk from the house where she spent her last days to the home where she raised her children.

“Honor her life because she lived a long great life had 13 children, 42 grandchildren and too many to count great grand children. SO we just want to do that today,” says Green.

Terry Baldwin, Mary’s eldest grandchild, says most people will remember her for her strong spirt and her big heart.

“She was the best grandmother, mother, great grandmother friend ever. Never cross for words she said what she wanted to say and that was the final word that was just her spirit,” says Terry Baldwin.

It’s a legacy the entire family will carry on…

“The best thing that we could give one another is each other’s love and support and continue to carry on what she started here because as long as we continue to bond and be together that her memory will live on forever,” says Baldwin.

Services for Mary Green will be held tomorrow.
