ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A secret, 2-week test run already is showing signs of improving efficiency.

Aberdeen Aldermen have approved leasing as many as 10 more GPS devices to be rotated among city-owned vehicles.

Three have been in use for the last three weeks, tracking everything from the speed of city vehicles, to locations, to how long cars and trucks idle.

As word spread among employees, city leaders say they’ve noticed a difference in efficiency.

They hope the expanded use will continue to save money on gas and vehicle maintenance and cut down on employee down time.
