ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Aberdeen police are warning business owners about a recent rash of break-ins.

Chief Henry Randle held a safety meeting Monday night for the owners on what they can do to keep their stores from being targeted.

Randle says most of the break-ins have been happening in the downtown area.

He tells WCBI  habitual offenders are to blame for most of the crimes.

“If we could actually get started now, trying to deter these thieves from getting into buildings, make some good arrests,” Randle said. “The main goal is to get good information where we can get them convicted, because if we don’t have the right kind of information, we’re not going to get any convictions and they’re out again.”

Randle advises business owners to be aware of their surroundings, lock all doors, set their alarms, and look at getting night vision surveillance cameras.
