Ala. Governor Bentley Addresses State After Election Day

ALABAMA (WCBI) — Alabama Governor Robert Bentley talked about the challenges ahead in his next term, and the Republican sweep of state offices.

The now two-term governor spoke with reporters on the steps of the capitol in Montgomery today.

Bentley says Alabamians identify more with the GOP and that’s one reason their numbers increased in the Legislature.

Bentley did not rule out gambling as a potential revenue source, as talked about other budget issues facing the state.

“And we need to look at some real chronic, structural problems that we have in this state,” Bentley said. “Problems that most people have not had the opportunity to look at, like our prison system. How are we going to solve that? Well, we’re going to solve it. We do have to look at Medicaid.”

Bentley says Alabama will not expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act.
