MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) – Alabama lawmakers correct a legal quagmire to allow alcohol sales to continue in some area towns.

The Alabama Supreme Court struck down a 2009 law allowing towns with a population of at least one thousand but no more than seven thousand to hold vote on alcohol sales.

Now, the new legislation will uphold those votes and was quickly approved at the state Capitol.

Sulligent, Reform, Aliceville, and other towns were impacted by the ruling. Sulligent Mayor Scott Boman tells WCBI, he’s glad the people’s decision was upheld by legislators.
