Video: Ambassador Laid to Rest

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Ambassador Robert Lee Pugh is laid to rest.

Pugh died Monday at the age of 81 after battling Parkinson’s Disease.

Pugh had a distinguished career that included serving in the United State Marine Corps and being nominated by President Ronald Reagan to serve as United States Ambassador to Mauritania and Chad in 1980s

After moving to Columbus, Pugh served as the President of the Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society for many years. He was also a member of the Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Jackson Pugh, a daughter, two grandchildren, his brother and a niece.
